2003

JANUARY>>

Labrador, January 6 2003, 7.35-7.45pm
On Monday 6th January 2003 at approximately 7.35pm my partner and I were outside the house on our back patio. I observed a very bright row of four to five lights with my naked eye. These lights were much too large to be a plane however they were on about the same level as the flight path to Brisbane from the Gold Coast [maybe a little higher]. As I jumped up to take a closer look a large cloud blocked our view [rolling large clouds were passing overhead with fairly high wind] and we stood for probably 4-5 minutes waiting for the lights to emerge from the cloud – this never happened. I would say that I witnessed the lights for only a few seconds and there was no sound emitting from this object whatsoever [generally we can hear planes flying along this flight path]. It looked to be about the length of a cigarette lighter held at arms length. The lights were very bright and whitish in colour. Unfortunately I could not see the actual shape of the object as the lights were so bright. The object was seen in the north east of our home at Labrador.

As we stood waiting for this object to emerge from the large cloud it had disappeared behind, a very large shooting star appeared from the northeast and flew to the southwest in a very large arc. We could actually see a vapour trail and it seemed as if it was breaking up before our eyes. It was a very unusual sighting for this time of evening and the size was enormous.

At approximately 7.45pm we were still gazing to the stars as we couldn’t believe what we had seen when we noticed another strange object in the sky. At first we thought it was a satellite as it was quite faint and very high in the sky however this was stationary and then started to move slowly and then changed directions - not normal for satellites!. After another minute or so another faint light appeared and also veered off in the same direction. These two more faint lights did not seem to move very quickly, and both appeared in the northeast and moved to the southwest before we lost sight of them.

I have read quite a number of publications on UFOs and the sighting of the huge shooting star had me quite convinced that the first object we spotted could well have been a UFO studying the effects of this meteor hitting our atmosphere.

Pt O’Halloran, Victoria Point, Thursday January 16 2003 8.40pm
A bright orange round object, half the size of the moon, was seen travelling from the southeast towards Mt Coot-tha in the northwest. It was observed by 2 witnesses, getting brighter as it travelled closer towards them. It moved in a steady motion, staying the same colour. It was silent and maintained a constant altitude while the witnesses observed it for 7 to 8 minutes.

FEBRUARY>>

Mt Gravatt, Brisbane, Tuesday February 25 2003, 9.45pm
A woman was sitting outside on her verandah [first floor] having a cigarette before she went to bed. She saw two luminous electric blue lights race past her up the street travelling from north to south at extremely high speed, one immediately behind the other. They were 1 metre square, luminous bright blue with a white blurred edge around them like cotton wool. As they raced up the street there was a tremendous roar and such a ferocious wind that it uprooted a tree [conifer] across the street [see photo below]. They went past her faster than she could blink her eyes. She was the only one awake and with the light on at the time.

She also reported another experience she had 30 or 40 years ago where she was driving along a lonely stretch of road travelling towards Melbourne from Albury. She was by herself and it was about 9.00pm, she thinks, when she saw a large lime green cigar-shaped craft on her left pacing her car 100 metres away and at about twice the height of a telephone pole. She could see persons sitting inside the craft but she could not distinguish them very well. She thought there were about 6 people sitting down and they appeared to be dressed in uniform as they were all dressed the same. She described the object as about the size of a small car which paced her car for 40 miles.

When she slowed her car down the object would slow down, and when she increased speed it would increase speed. She kept wondering how she was going to shake the object off and was very frightened. As she got to a turn off point at the Digger’s Rest Hotel, she stopped her car and the object just vanished. She was very frightened by the whole event and went inside the hotel to get a drink to settle her nerves and compose herself. She was known by the locals at the hotel so when she went inside they asked her what was wrong as she looked all shook up. She didn’t want to tell them what happened because she knew they would laugh, so she just said she was tired. She said she has told no-one in her family about these experiences as she knows they will not believe her and question her sanity.

Calamvale, February 2003, evening
In February this year [it was the night they played ET on free to air TV here in Brisbane actually, that’s why I remember it – the irony] as for the exact date..? My husband and I were out in the backyard when I looked up to the south and saw what looked like a plane on fire. I nudged my husband and we both watched it slowly cross the sky from east to west, travelling like a plane and at the same speed and height as a plane. I looked to the north, towards Brisbane airport, and saw a plane coming south, looked back to the ‘ fireball’ and was assured that they were not the same things, the fireball being three times bigger. We yelled to the neighbours who also watched it disappear, then reappear then disappear over and over until it was out of sight. The eerie part was that there was no noise, like a plane. And that’s it!

MARCH>>

Delaney’s Creek, March 3 2003, 10.00-10.30pm
On 3-5-2003 between 10.00-10.30pm my 13 year old and 10 year old and three of their friends at Delaney’s Creek witnessed a green light which appeared to be 200 metres away and 100 metres high. It moved about 10km on a constant downward angle [like it was about to crash to the ground] and seemed to have a smoky tail coming off it. They watched it for about 15 seconds before it turned orange and disappeared. No sounds were heard.

Reported Thursday March 8 2003
1. A witness reported seeing an object about the size of a 767 aircraft flying from the north and arcing around to the west. It was white, long and narrow like an aircraft fuselage but had no wings. The witness is a small plane pilot [flies Cessnas] and estimated the object was 20,000 ft high. He observed it for one and a half minutes before it disappeared out of sight. He viewed this object from Loganholme which is just south of Brisbane.

2. The same witness also reported that 20 years ago he was out walking at dusk when he saw a flash of light emanate from a point in the sky. Two small bright white objects emerged from the flash and flew off in opposite directions disappearing from view.

APRIL>>

Sunnybank, Monday April 7 2003, 6.30pm
A man observed three red lights in succession to the NE at an initial angle of elevation of about 60 degrees, the size and brightness of a dim star. The first descended slowly on a diagonal path to the right to about 55 degrees elevation over about ten seconds and faded out. About a minute later another red light did the same thing in the same place in the sky. A third light descended about half the distance of the earlier lights and then continued moving horizontally to the right for a further 20 seconds before fading away. It was also observed with binoculars, but no additional details were seen. There were no clouds in the part of sky being observed. About 10 minutes later an F-111 aircraft arrived and flew around the area for about half an hour. He obtained pictures of the plane.

Moorooka, April 8 2003, 6.30pm
The witness observed a series of lights flying in a flat ‘T’-formation going west towards Redbank Plains. The ‘T’ shape changed to an anchor shape then the lights slowly changed direction towards Ipswich. The lights were the same size as plane lights but not flashing, and each one was coloured red in the front and white in the rear. There were eight lights all together.

Mt Gravatt, Tuesday April 8 2003, 8.30am
The same witness was in a car proceeding north in congested traffic between Mt Gravatt and the Old Cleveland Road Turn-off. Looking towards Brisbane Airport [north-northwest] he saw a Jumbo take off and to its left at an elevation of about 25 degrees he saw a silver coloured ball shape descending slowly about 10 degrees off the vertical which faded out in the sky after about 10 seconds.

Annerley, Saturday April 19 2003, 4.27am
It was still dark when a man was walking up the external stairs of his house and heard a hiss and a bang. He looked around and saw a green ball about twice the apparent size of the full moon rising from the ground and fade out after about three seconds without leaving any smoke or other residue. The glow lit up the sky and his surroundings. He judged that the object was about a mile away and drove around the area but found nothing which might be connected to his sighting. The entire episode lasted about ten seconds.

Yeerongpilly, Tuesday April 22 2003, 6.00am
A man observed an orange-white light in the eastern sky that appeared to be coming toward him. It had a tail ten times longer than the size of the object that streamed out behind it. It was moving slowly and appeared to be coming down over the ocean [to his east]. He rang Amberley Air Base but they did not know what it was. The witness eventually lost sight of the object behind a building. There were three witnesses to this incident. [A high flying Jet/Contrail interpretation is being checked out].

Churchill, Ipswich, Wednesday April 23 2003, 6.00am
A couple observed what looked like a slow moving meteor to the east which they observed moving away for about 5 minutes. They also obtained about 2 to 3 minutes of video footage. The object had a head and a tail and was seen first at an angle of elevation of about 30 degrees, going down to about 15 degrees as it got fainter and was lost to sight. Its apparent length was about 10 cm at arm’s length. The Sunday was up during this sighting. [A highflying Jet/Contrail interpretation is being checked out].

MAY>>

Brisbane, Saturday May 3 2003, 7.45pm
A stationary red and white flashing light was observed in the western sky for 2 to 3 minutes at an elevation of 5 to 10 degrees, with no associated sound. The light was seen through the trees when a haze swept across the line of sight which cleared and then the light changed to red. No sound was heard. This witness had 4 sightings in 4 years.

Balmoral, Brisbane Sunday May 11 2003, 9.20pm
A woman was watching TV with the lights on, when she observed a bright orange light moving from east to west. It reminded her of a jet afterburner. She opened her window, but heard no sound. It was travelling at the speed of a plane and stopped for 2 to 3 minutes before moving away. It was oblong and about 1/10th size of the full moon. The incident lasted 4 to 5 minutes.

Petrie, Friday May 16 2003, 11.45pm-1.30am
A woman saw 5 blue-white objects travelling slowly in the sky at an elevation of 60 degrees. The objects were constantly brightening and fading every second as they moved. The woman thought they were way out in space as they drifted towards each other then further apart. She could see the objects moving by lining them up with the satellite dish on the neighbour’s house.

Tarragindi, Saturday May 24 2003, 8.50pm A caller reported a flash of light and then a 'bang' sound when there was no lightning and it was a clear sky.

Northern Suburbs, Brisbane Sunday May 25 2003, 12.50am
A woman observed two bright red lights with a bright white light in the middle out of a window, ascending rapidly with a jagged motion and heard an associated noise. The sighting lasted about 2 seconds.

Bethania, Monday May 26 2003, 6.15pm
Three big bright orange lights far apart, were observed moving together in the northern sky and stopped. Two of them then moved north towards Brisbane and one remained overhead. This light flashed a bright red and then glowed orange again, seemed to be rising and went out. The incident lasted 4 to 5 minutes, the sky was clear and the moon and stars were bright. The lights were slightly bigger than stars and covered about half of the sky as they moved. Three witnesses observed them.

JUNE>>

Mt Morgan, Friday June 6 2003, 7.00pm
A man was looking east and saw bright light flash across his view moving south to north. It was incredibly bright compared to the stars, had no tail, and made no sound. It was too fast to be an aircraft and appeared to come down as it moved, changing its angle of elevation from about 30 degrees to 25 degrees as it crossed about 20 degrees of sky. Its glow remained constant and it was lost behind a hill.

Scarborough, Friday June 13 2003, 5.45am
A dull blurred pulsating white light about half the size of a football was seen travelling west to north. It was moving at the same speed of an aircraft travelling in a slight curve. It was half way across the sky when it began to fade out. The sky was clear.

Shorncliffe, Friday June13 2003, 6.20pm
A large light, 5 to 6 times the size of a star was seen moving slowly in a southerly direction as it changed colour. It was observed for 3 to 5 minutes before it was lost to view.

Brisbane, Friday June 13 2003, 7.30pm
I would like to report a possible UFO sighting. At approximately 7:30pm on Friday 13 June 2003, while travelling south on the Southeast Freeway [the Captain Cook Bridge part], I saw what appeared to be an unusual object in the sky. At first I thought it might be a low-flying plane, as it was roughly triangular in configuration and had flashing white and red lights, but upon closer inspection I could see that it was not a conventional aeroplane. It was definitely triangular in shape [indeed, I could see a dark outline which was definitely triangular], and had two white lights at its ‘rear’ and one red light up each ‘side’ — perhaps two-thirds of the way from the rear to the tip. It is worth observing that as it appeared to be roughly an equilateral triangle, it was impossible to determine where the ‘front’ was: I took the rear to be the side nearest to me, as this allows the light scheme to be symmetrical about its ‘spine’ [i.e. front-to-rear axis]. The lights flashed in sequence: the two white lights together, then the two red, then the white, and so on.

I first saw the object between buildings, just to the left of the building to the left of the Executive Building [from the perspective of the freeway southbound]. My fiancé, who was in the front passenger seat, saw it on my prompting just to the left of the Executive Building [as did I], and we both managed to get a very clear view after clearing the line of trees near the River Stage and as we passed over the Brisbane River. The object, which seemed very large and very low, appeared to be hovering over the Kangaroo Point side of the river, pointing downriver [again assuming the hypothetical ‘front’]. It did not appear to be moving, and if it was, it moved only fractionally. Given that the car was moving at the time, fractional movement of the object may have been obscured. As it appeared to be in the vicinity of Kangaroo Point, my fiancé and I agreed to drive to the top of the cliff there and get a better look from outside the car. Along the way, my fiancé described the closest approximation to what she thought the object might be: she suggested a low-flying stealth bomber. Both the darkness of the object and its shape made this a plausible guess, but the rear definitely appeared as a flat edge to me, and not ridged or bumpy as with stealth bombers. I took particular notice of the rear of the object as I was trying to compare the pattern of the lights to that of an aeroplane, and the white lights were emitted from the rear side.

We reached the cliff at 7:34pm, by which time the object was no longer visible. We checked the view from the cliff thoroughly, in case we had seen a fixed object and mistaken it for a flying object. The only possible candidate we could see was a pair of lit cranes atop a high-rise. However, these were on the city side of the river, and we were both quite sure that we saw the object on the Kangaroo Point side.

To be as thorough as possible in our observation, we decided to cover our ground a second time, to see if the object was still visible, or if we had indeed mistaken a fixed landmark for a UFO. On the second drive down the Captain Cook Bridge, this time at roughly 7:50pm, the object was no longer visible. We saw the two cranes on several occasions, and determined quite clearly that these could not have been what we witnessed. Indeed, no fixed landmark corresponded. This supports my knowledge of the view across from the bridge to the cliff, which did not feature any such object as recently as the previous Monday night when I last travelled that way.

During the drive we observed many conventional aeroplanes, noting that none matched the light pattern, the low altitude or the flight path of the unidentified object. My fiancé also noted that she was surprised by the lack of any sound accompanying the object, which she would have expected from a conventional aeroplane flying that low.

It is difficult to determine how large or low the object was, but it was certainly not small [it appeared as large as a large, low, yellow full moon would], and was perhaps 500m to 1km downriver from the Captain Cook Bridge — it certainly appeared closer to us than to the Story Bridge. This is assuming it was indeed near the river: due to limited perspective through a car windscreen, it is possible that it may have been further over land, and consequently further out. Its altitude is also dependent on this flaw in perspective, but it appeared to be hovering comparatively low for an airborne object over that area. It cleared such structures as the AAPT building, but not by a substantial degree.

Tugun, Friday June 13 2003, 8.00pm
An orange light moving like a floating balloon was seen moving from the ocean over nearby hills. It was the colour of a street light but brighter and about half the apparent size of the full moon. It was seen for about 2 minutes.

Shorncliffe, Saturday June 14 2003, 5.15pm
A rectangular shaped object sitting vertically in the sky was seen in the western sky. The same object was seen at the same time on Sunday night too [15/6/03]. This time it appeared to be curved not rectangular.

Redland Bay, Monday June16 2003
A bright white light with an intermittent tail was seen over Stradbroke Island.

JULY>>

Oxenford, July 7 2003, 6.40pm
I live at Studio Village near Oxenford Queensland. Recently I witnessed something that was not a plane, helicopter or satellite. In the north-western sky at about 45 degrees high, I saw a bluish white light coming from the west heading east at 6:40pm on July 7. Most aircraft that I see in the sky are coming from the south heading north presumably to Brisbane airport. I thought it was a helicopter, but the light faded out and then reappeared further west. The sky was clear, no clouds at all and no wind. There were no other lights on the object that I could see. It was about as bright and as big as the brightest star in the southern Cross. I watched it for approximately 1 minute. There was about five seconds between the light being on and off. The light stayed on for about three seconds then faded and reappeared five seconds later. There was no noise as it seemed to be far away. It moved about as fast as a light aircraft at close range. It appeared at one time to take a right angled turn to the south then it reappeared on its westerly direction. The light went off and then reappeared probably a few kilometres south of its last position. I have never seen an object in the sky take that sort of turn over that distance in such a short time frame [less then 5 seconds]. It spooked me quite a bit. It was definitely not an object that I’m used to seeing in the skies.

Mt Crosby, Monday July 14 2003, 10.40pm
A man reported seeing a very bright blue-green light descending rapidly for 10 to 15 seconds before losing sight of it below trees. He described it to be like a meteorite but with no tail and coming straight down. As it did so it did not appear to change size.

Murgon, July 15 2003, 10.00pm
A large silver ball of light half the size of the moon was seen travelling overhead. It had a tail which was 5 times the length of the object. It was seen for 8 to 10 seconds travelling north to south. The caller said this happened about 2 months ago. The Gympie UFO and Paranormal Research group had no reports.

Redland Bay, July 16 2003, 6.30am
A woman advised that she was awake at 6.30am on the 16th June 2003 when she saw something hovering in the eastern sky. It was a bright white light that looked like it was not moving but then headed up in to the sky at about a 45 degree angle. When it reached 45 degrees she saw ‘bits and pieces raining off the back of it’. It did not move very fast and it was not travelling in a known flight path. She took a video of it which was shown at our August public meeting. One opinion expressed at that viewing was that this was an aircraft condensation trail brightly lit by the rising sun.

Thangool near Biloela, July 21 2003
A woman reported that a couple of years previously she went to bed and woke up before dawn to see a being standing at the end of her bed. It had a wide head going to a narrow chin and round eyes that were completely white. It was dressed in tight fitting outfit. She felt this was an ET and it was evil. The experience ‘creeped’ her out and she had not had any other experiences since.

Gladstone Monday July 28 2003, 6.50pm
While driving from Miriamvale to Agnes Waters a woman was looking in the southern sky when she observed a bright light flash as bright as lightning, then disappear. The light wasn't very high, approximately 45 degrees elevation and ‘had a little bit of blue in it.’ It was a clear sky.

Pullenvale, Monday July 28 2003, 6.50pm
A woman observed to the north a big silver, moon-sized ball descending towards the ground in 2 to 3 seconds. When it would have hit the ground there was a red glow, but without any associated sound. It was seen from a semi-lit room and came down vertically from an angle of elevation of about 15 degrees.

AUGUST>>

Edens Landing, Saturday August 2 2003, 7.40pm
A woman reported seeing two orange balls of flame moving from south to north in the evening sky. They were travelling in a straight line, moved as fast as a plane, seemed to be low in the sky and about the size of her thumbnail at arm's length. She described the object's colour as ‘like a coal from a bar-b-que. She heard no noise and lost sight of them behind trees. There were six witnesses to this incident and the objects were observed for between one and two minutes.

Paddington, Friday August 8 2003, 9.05pm
A witness reported seeing two dim lights moving rapidly in tandem at a low angle of elevation from the south-southeast to the southwest in about 10 seconds, while exhibiting a zigzag motion.

Churchill, Friday August 8 2003
A witness reported seeing a bright light to the southeast which faded away several times, at an angle of elevation of about 35 degrees. He also observed the light with binoculars but saw no new features. The sky had patchy cloud, and the light may have been Mars which was visible to the east at a similar angle of elevation, obscured on occasion by cloud.

Wavell Heights, Tuesday August 12 2003, 7.00pm
A young man reported seeing four lights circling each other in the southern sky. They were twenty five to thirty times larger than a star and appeared to be very close to him. They were moving faster than a plane and appeared to be two power poles in height above him. He stated ‘the lights seemed to be playing tag with each other’. He had been watching them for the previous half an hour before he reported them but he heard no noise from them in that time. He was advised they could have been lights from a laser light show and was asked to go for a short walk through the neighbourhood to see if he could find their point of origin, to which he agreed. He said if he found the source he would call back, but he never called.

Sunnybank ,Tuesday August 12 2003, 7.15pm
A man reported seeing three lights playing tag with each other in the north/northwest sky. After ten to fifteen minutes another light joined them and they moved quickly across the sky, changing direction. He advised they were moving much faster than an aircraft and were a grey-silver colour. The lights were approx. fifty degrees elevation above the horizon and appeared to be the length of his thumb and twice as thick at arm's length. He watched them for twenty minutes as he wandered in and out of the house looking at them. By 8.00pm they were gone. He first thought they were from the Brisbane exhibition show but once he checked his directions he realised they were not in that vicinity. There appeared to be no pattern to the lights' movements whatsoever. [Editor's Note: Wavell Heights is about 10km to the north of Brisbane City and Sunnybank about 15km to the south. This witness and the previous one were both looking towards the City at about the same time, and were probably observing a light display.]

Sunshine Coast, Friday August 15 2003
A journalist from the Sunshine Coast Daily Newspaper reported that the newspaper had received calls from people at Boreen Point reporting three bright fluorescent disks in the sky. The lights would break out of the clouds now and then and dance around before disappearing. One caller reported that when two planes came along they would disappear. These reports were from the previous night between 7pm and 7.30pm.

Warwick [QLD], August 19 2003
A man was front seat passenger in a car when it was getting dark just out of Warwick to the north, when he saw a green light to the north descend steadily and change to an orange colour and brighten in the course of 2 to 3 minutes.

Maroochydore, Saturday August 23 2003, 9.30pm
The caller reported seeing two disk shaped objects chasing each other in a circle to the north. They seemed to be half the size of the moon. Closer to 10.00pm a third light appeared and they would follow each other closely then reverse. At 10.00pm it started to rain so he went inside. He could see no beams of light which might indicate they were from a laser light show.

Margate, Monday August 25 2003, 5.00am
The caller observed an object that appeared to be like a rocket. It was made of two stripes side by side that were as long as a pen at arms length. She described it as ‘bright as could be’ with a bit of a flame behind it. It came out of the east and went up higher than the moon, then turned south/southwest. It went over the corner of the house and as it got closer to her it appeared to be as along as her arm. She called her sister who lived 5 minutes down the road from her and she could see it too. Her son also observed the object.

Brookfield, Saturday August 30 2003, 8.05pm
A woman reported seeing two very large orange balls of light fly over her as she was driving her car towards home. They were travelling at a slow speed and she described them as ‘like fire trapped in a glass’. After she arrived home she went out to have another look. She could see no body to the objects and as she watched them they took off up into the air very quickly at an angle like a plane taking off. As they travelled through a cloud they lit up the entire cloud. She stated that when the lights were over the car they were as big as the moon. She knew there were fireworks on at the time because of the Riverside Festival but she said these were not from that event.

Maryvale [QLD], August 30 2003, 8.00pm
The same witness was in a vehicle approaching Cunningham's Gap when he saw two big orange lights which seemed to be 300 to 400 meters away and 20 to 30 meters apart, stationary a few hundred meters above a farm house at an angle of elevation of about 45 degrees. The witness was in a moving vehicle, and the lights, which appeared smaller than the full moon, hovered in place for about a minute and then vanished. The lights were well defined, clearly visible, and at the same height. As they continued on the witness saw one round orange light directly in front at an angle of elevation of about 45 degrees, so that he had to stoop to see it through the front car windscreen. The light seemed to be approaching the vehicle fast but it dimmed, brightened and then disappeared before it got to the witnesses' position. It was seen for about a minute but no sound was heard with the window down.

SEPTEMBER>>

Toowoomba, September 13 2003, 7.25pm
I was out looking at Mars with my telescope at 7:25pm in Toowoomba, Queensland, on Saturday the 13th of September with my neighbours. I was looking straight up at the milky way [without the telescope], when I saw what looked like a normal star. It was moving south with great speed. When I say great speed, it probably took a minute to get too far away to see it. It was a long way off, it didn't get any closer or change colours or leave a trail or anything.

Wivenhoe, September 30 2003, 8.15pm
On Saturday 30th August 2003 at approximately 8.15pm my partner and I were walking from our camp site at the Wivenhoe Dam hoping to spot wild life with our torch. As we had not seen any animals and as it was a clear, calm pleasant evening with a cloudless sky and no moon we decided to look at the brilliant starry night to see if we could spot a satellite. Suddenly two brilliant yellowish/amber lights, set apart, one above the other appeared travelling at great speed towards us from a southerly to northerly direction. The direction we were looking was away from the lake. We were dumfounded and transfixed, expecting the 'objects' to fly over us at any moment. It was difficult to establish their elevation but they were between the horizon and not above a tall tree some hundreds of meters in front of us. There was absolute silence. Suddenly one of the lights disappeared while the other light kept coming towards us. Just as suddenly it came on again. Both the lights kept coming towards us then the second light disappeared as did the first. The second light then reappeared and both lights kept coming towards us. There was no sound at all. Just as we thought the 'objects' were going to pass overhead they disappeared. As we were discussing what we saw and looking in the general direction of the sighting, in the horizon to the south west the sky was faintly lit by what appeared to be sheet lighting then there appeared another single light the same as before, travelling in a northerly direction. It then disappeared and in the same direction but high in the sky a white light with a tail of small white lights appeared and, at great speed, disappeared up into the night sky at about a 1.30 position. All this happened within about 5 minutes and there was no sound at any time. We have no way of explaining what we saw but we can confidently say it was not an aircraft, car or any other known object. We are a responsible senior couple and had not been drinking or suffering from any illness. We now have a better respect for reports of UFOs.

OCTOBER>>

Chapel Hill, October 16 2003
A Couple in a car were proceeding south along the Western Freeway and saw three red lights in formation through their front windscreen at an elevation of about 45 degrees. The lights seemed to just “sit there” for two seconds and then shot off to the right [west], disappearing in a second, while maintaining their formation.

Mt Gravatt, October 30 2003, 10.30pm
A woman was sitting outside on her verandah when she observed what she first thought was a plane emerging from a cloud. She then realized it was a clear night and there were no clouds as she could clearly see the stars all round her, so she had a closer look. She observed what appeared to be 4 windows dimly illuminated from the inside and seemed to be within a framework of an oval-shaped object on its side which was flattened at the ends. It was a typical saucer shape that was only determined by her due to the shape of the disturbance around the object and not by any distinct outline. She described it as "like a torpedo going through water" and the disturbance it creates in the water was how she described the disturbance of the air currents around the object. It was travelling south in what appeared to be a long arc as she observed it for 25 to 30 seconds. It was moving horizontally and very smoothly, which she kept emphasizing. It was eventually lost to sight behind the neighbour's house. She described it as the length of a pen at arm's length at approximately 75 to 80 degrees elevation, and thought she heard a low whirring noise above the traffic which faded as the object moved away. It was hard for her to judge how far it was from her location.

NOVEMBER>>

Margate, Monday November 24 2003, 8.15pm
A woman was laying on the couch looking out the window when she saw a massive object [about the size of half a house] gliding silently just above the power line. She was asked what she would have needed at arms length to cover it and she said at least 20 objects the size of her own palm. It was the shape of a bat with outstretched wings and had one green and one white light on each wing. She said it moved so slowly she could have walked faster. She and her mother ran outside to get a better look but it had disappeared. Neither she or her mother heard any noise at any time.

Jimboomba, November 2003
I was taking a break on my deck when I heard an aircraft that had a different pitch to what I normally hear. Upon looking up I could see it was either a 737 or a 767 [too high to tell] heading due south. I heard the last of the sound without being able to spot the aircraft as it had gone past the point of the roof, which allowed visual contact. Upon looking up again [in case this echo was in fact another aircraft] I saw bright white object, smaller than plane, approximately size of satellite on "no moon" night, flying at a rapid rate of knots. Normally I would have assumed that this object was in fact a satellite, however, the appearance being the same as the object seen just over a week ago has led me to report this. It was too bright for too long to be a reflection from a satellite.

Armadale, Perth, November 2003
Direction: east of the Darling Ranges, broad daylight, object rising into sky, Appears to look like large body of water. Lost site of object. Another massive object then became visible, high up and moving in a southerly direction. Could just see the shape of it beyond the blue sky. The fingerprint of this object is visible enough to guess it to be a massive mother ship .outside the atmosphere that can still be seen. Another large ball shaped object re-entered the atmosphere from the south. The re-entry caused a large fiery flash through the sky seconds after, I saw the metal ball move within our atmosphere across the sky heading east very silently.

DECEMBER>>

Edens Landing, Wednesday December 10 2003, 1.18pm
A circular object was observed travelling low in the sky from north to south. It appeared to be silver with a slightly matt finish, solid and metallic. It was at a 45 degree elevation and had a piece shaped like a crescent missing out of its side. The witness observed it for about ten seconds before it disappeared into a black rain cloud.

Isle of Capri, Gold Coast, Saturday December 20 2003, 12.00pm
Two witnesses observed seven stars moving erratically in the sky. They appeared to travel over Surfers Paradise before dipping low in the sky. They were reddish-pink fading to orange and moved in a cluster as big as an outstretched hand. The sky was clear at the time. The objects were observed for eleven minutes.

Ingham, Saturday December 27 2003, 9.30pm
Two people were camping and sitting on the beach when they observed a light the size of a golf ball with a tail streaking behind it. It was a bright blue fluorescent colour and moved close to the ground and over the mud flats. It went out to sea then came back and hovered near them briefly for two seconds before it went to ground, up again and then shot off.

MISCELLANEOUS REPORTS RECEIVED IN 2003>>

Redbank Plains, date unknown 2003, 6:50pm
I am 28yrs of age and have worked for the Australian Quarantine Service for 8 years. I was with my family - Dad 67, Mum 56, Sister 26 and her boyfriend 25 earlier this evening - sitting outside on a veranda in semi-rural Redbank Plains. The property is 45 acres in size and fairly isolated and you get a good view of the stars - ie you can see the clouds of gas etc in the Milky Way. At about 18:50, we had just finished dinner and were looking at the stars and talking about Mars beginning to recede in size and brightness from what it was several weeks ago. My sister's boyfriend spotted what he thought was a "falling star" high up in the south-eastern sky. This drew the group’s attention to that area. When the rest of the group looked, there was nothing to be seen. About two minutes later, my father spotted movement in the same area and again drew the group's attention. Him and I both saw what looked like a shooting star become very bright and then begin to diminish and then fade. At this stage, we thought nothing much of it.

We kept an eye in the general vicinity of the area, when my Dad announced that he could see a small light moving from that area. All in the group could see the light - it was very tiny. At first we thought it to be a satellite - which we have often seen passing over. I would describe it as a pinpoint of light. While we watched the light, it began moving in an easterly direction in a straight line - after travelling about two hand spans it came to a complete stop. We all tried to keep an eye on it, because if you looked away, it was very hard to focus on again. About one minute later the object began moving again - this time in a westerly direction. Again it stopped, but this time we were able to keep an eye on it - it remained stationery for a minute or two, and then began moving in a northerly direction. The object was "hooting" along - far faster than any satellite or jet I have ever seen. In order to see it better, we cupped our hands to our eyes. The object picked up speed and moved at an astonishing pace across the sky. It travelled in a straight line and this time moved many handspans across the sky. It appeared to pass just below Mars.

We were all amazed at what we watching, but the icing on the cake was when we noticed another light - exactly the same - moving in a southerly direction at about the same speed. This light was seen about 4 hands spans to the left of Mars. The two lights passed each other just to the left of Mars without stopping. The first kept moving in a northerly direction and was soon lost in the glow of the lights from Brisbane. The second light continued at the same speed in a direct line to the south, but we soon lost sight of it as it faded into obscurity. Both objects were extremely high in the sky.

We kept watching the sky for about half an hour but could not detect any more movement or anything of consequence. We compared the lights to the planes that we could see in the sky - of which there were plenty - but there is no way that these were planes. Their speed was astonishing, as was the first light's initial movement. No sounds could be heard from the two lights. The night was clear with no clouds present in the sky. The lights remained a constant colour and brightness being about that of a faint star].

This is the first time any one in the group has seen anything like this - I have seen plenty of falling stars/meteors/comets etc, but have never ever seen anything that has made me feel like this. I have never reported anything like this before. I have goosebumps now as I type this and read your site... now I'm a believer.

NSW, [reported Thursday March 13 2003, all events reported by same witness]
1. On the 10th December 2002 in the evening a woman was driving with her daughter from Dubbo in an east to west direction. She saw a round object with changing colours, about the size of a house, hovering in the sky about 500m above the ground. It was moving and disappearing then reappearing as she drove. She arrived at her son’s house and called her son and friend out to see it. All four observed it to be about 1km high and the same distance away from them. It kept changing colour through the colours of the rainbow like a fibre-optic lamp, and she kept thinking how beautiful the colours were. She eventually lost sight of it as it disappeared from view.

2. In 1984 the same witness was camping in the Newcastle hills at Dungong when at 4pm she observed a long, cigar-shaped silver object travelling ‘full steam’ across the horizon being chased by two RAAF jets. It stopped suddenly then moved from left to right then left again, as if marking time until the jets caught up with it. She got the distinct impression that the object was playing with the jets as it took off again and disappeared.

3. In 1995 the witness was driving from Mungindi along a dirt road towards the next town where she was working at the time. She realized she had forgotten some clothes she needed and turned around to drive home to retrieve them. As she was driving she observed something hovering in the sky about 500 metres away 400 metres high. She stopped the car and got out to get a clearer view. As she did so the object landed a couple of hundred metres away and she was immediately filled with an overwhelming sense of dread, doom and feeling threatened. She quickly got back in the car and drove off but the object pursued her for some time then blinked out.

4. In 1989 this witness was driving in the evening from Goodooga near Lightning Ridge in NSW towards Newcastle when she observed what looked like a shooting star fall from the west which seemed to hit the ground then shoot back up into the sky towards the east creating a V-shaped bounce.

Moorooka [reported April 2003]
1. The witness observed a series of lights flying in a flat ‘T’ formation going west towards Redbank Plains. The ‘T’ shape changed to an anchor shape then the lights slowly changed direction towards Ipswich. The lights were the same size as plane lights, but not flashing and each one was coloured red in the front and white in the rear. There were 8 lights all together.

2. Occurred about two years previously when the witness was standing in the front yard of his home at Moorooka. He observed a red and green light about the size of two stars together in a cigar shape. No noise was heard.

3. Occurred approximately two years previously when he was out walking his dog. It was 8pm. He looked up and observed two black balls come over the trees in front of him approximately 30 metres away. They were each about the size of a soccer ball. At first he thought they were balloons but when they moved in front of the security lights they did not light up as was expected, but remained completely black. At the same time all sound stopped, he could not hear any traffic noises, insect noises etc. He looked down at his dog but it appeared to be unaffected. He watched these balls for one minute before they disappeared.

4. Driving home from work along Kingsford Smith Drive in Brisbane at 3pm he observed a dull silver object flying over the city at about the height of a house. He only observed it for 4-5 seconds before it disappeared. He described it as travelling faster than anything he had ever seen before.

Carina, Brisbane, 1997 [reported May 2003]
1997 - While living at Carina in Brisbane the witness was out walking her dog in the evening when she looked up and saw a circle of iridescent green a few hundred feet above her head. It was moving in a circular motion and within it were four lights, two of which were triangular and the other two were circular. As she continued to walk her dog the light appeared to follow her. She walked home and it hovered above her house. The size of the circle increased dramatically to the size of the house before disappearing. The incident didn’t frighten her. When she first saw the green light she felt an instant feeling of calm.

Mt Crosby [reported July 2003]
1. A man reported seeing a very bright blue-green light descending rapidly for 10 to 15 seconds before losing sight of it below trees. He described it to be like a meteorite but with no tail and coming straight down. As it did so it did not appear to change size.

2. This same witness had also seen an object in 1989 when he was with 2 other adults and a child. He observed a light which seemed to 'bounce like a beach volley ball' going straight up vertically in the sky. A storm had gone over Brisbane and he could see it against the storm clouds. He witnessed this for 5 to 8 minutes.

3. In 1993 he was sitting on a deck chair on a verandah below another verandah when 3 lights moved overhead shining light down. The floorboards of the verandah overhead were not close together so strips of light shone through on to him as the 3 lights passed overhead. They were at different heights but travelling within 100 metres of each other. They were 'dead silent'. He rang Amberley Air Base but they had nothing in the air at the time.

Mt Warning, 1993 [reported July 2003]
A man and his friend were driving to another friend's place at Crystal Creek, NSW. It was dusk when he saw two lights in the sky over Mt Warning. He had a warm feeling and received a telepathic message from the lights that said ‘we are waiting to meet you at your friend's place.’ As he drew nearer to his friend's place he received another message saying, ‘the little one is frightened, we will leave and meet you at another time.’ When he asked his companion if she was frightened, she confirmed she was. The caller reported having this experience once before when he was inside a house and he received a message to, ‘come out on the verandah’, but he ignored it and has regretted it ever since.

Bundaberg, mid 1980s [reported July 2003]
I have been harbouring this for some years now and I am trying to remember the year that I saw what I did. It was probably in the mid to late 1980s. I was in my backyard in Bundaberg Queensland and the time of the year was warm, possibly toward October/November. I was laying looking up at the clearest sky you have ever seen, not one cloud in sight. Then, literally out of the blue a white luminous disk shaped object appeared right above me. It was very high up [probably the distance you see jets]. It was travelling reasonably quickly, then another the same size appeared. This certainly got my attention. But before too long another appeared exactly the same as the two before it, then another two after the third. Five in total followed each other. They were all aligned evenly and travelling at an extremely rapid rate. I was frantic and yelled to my mother who was in the kitchen. The objects then disappeared one at a time in the same spot in the sky until the last one vanished. This experience has stayed with me very vividly to this day. It was definitely out of the norm of flying objects. It would be interesting to see if any other sightings of this kind were witnessed around this time.

Booval, early 1970s [reported July 2003]
I thought you may be interested in a sighting that occurred in the early 70’s. I used to live at Green Street, Booval, Queensland [I have since moved to England as my father died of unknown causes in his sleep in 1972]. I attended the Silkstone State School. We were giving a school performance of dancing in the school hall. The audience of parents were some what distracted by a formation of three dancing lights in the sky. The lights where larger than the stars. When they had finished their show they shot off in different directions at great speed. I know this is sketchy but I have a fairly sparse memory of the events as I was only 10 at the time. My mother, who is now 65, has a full memory of the sighting. I do remember the adults having a meeting in one of the classrooms to discuss what they had seen. It was a topic for discussion whenever my family and friends got together. I have had other sightings here in England over the past few years. Nothing so odd as the dancing balls.

Redcliffe, 1967 [reported November 2003]
Does anyone remember the sightings of three UFOs over the water in front of the Redcliffe roller skating rink? It was around 1967. My brothers and I were at the skate rink and at intermission, we went outside for a breather. Suddenly we saw lights in the water coming from Moreton Island travelling under the water or so we thought. We were only kids, my older brothers were in their teens and I also had a younger brother who remembers this. We watched these lights for a while then I remember they looked like they were rising up out of the water. We screamed and I remember others running and screaming and that’s all I remember.

We lived on the waterfront at the time and my younger brother and I share two experiences through ‘dreams.’ The dreams are so vivid that they have been with us forever. We never spoke of our experiences as I thought it was my dream, but I started drawing and my brother looked at me astounded and said ‘Where did you see that?’ We got talking and started filling the gaps of the two dreams we shared. It was amazing because we would finish each other’s sentence describing our experience to the letter. We laughed hysterically and tears welled up in our eyes.

This was our first dream [experience]: We were visiting our neighbours on the downstairs floor, watching television. Suddenly I heard something outside and looked through the window, peeping through the curtain, and saw little people coming out of a craft. This was some thirty-five years ago - no X-Files programs on TV to help our imagination. Anyway, these beings were coming towards our unit and it was as if everything in the room had frozen and my brother and I were talking to each other in our minds. I knew what he was thinking. I was scared because they were coming for us and everything blacked out. Then we woke up on a table, but the table was not a table that we know. It was a beam of bright white light and both of us were laying opposite each other. We could still see other and I remember looking across at him and there were these taller beings about four or five just observing him. His thoughts travelled into my head and he was scared just as I was. They spoke telepathically and said that everything was alright they were not going to harm us, but I was terrified. There was a moment when I saw a needle-like object coming over my stomach, like a finepoint extra long needle, something I have only seen now on X-Files and which really freaked me out when I saw it because it brought back many broken images which I had pushed to the back of my mind for years. I blacked out after the needle and woke up in my bed the next moment. I never spoke of it to anyone, not even my parents, because they might have thought I was crazy. They were dreams and that’s how I dealt with my strange experience. To this day there are times where I have dreams of being on a craft-interior that is smooth and there are no joins on the walls, just corridors and some sort of strange symbols on the walls. Other dreams are of hundreds of lights in the sky like an invasion and then I wake up. Also, the number 1111 comes up in my day-to-day activities, mostly the clock, but its like I feel like this is some sort of key to something I should know about but can't quite understand, My brother is the same. Weird hey, but that’s my story. If anyone was witness to the skating rink experience I would love to hear it.
