JANUARY>>
Deception
Bay, Monday January 1 2001
An orange light was seen travelling from
the southeast to the northwest. It was silent and moving
very fast. A video image was obtained which appeared to show a
dozen windows on the object. This video was subsequently shown
at our January public meeting.
Tuesday,
January 2
2001, 3.37am
A bright white object was observed moving
from horizon to horizon over two minutes from north-northwest to
east-southeast. It
maintained a constant direction and was not as bright as Venus
at this time.
Morayfield,
January 5
2001
At about 2:00pm one day in early May I saw a blue
oval shaped object that was rippling like water. It was at the
top of the mountains southwest of Morayfield. I thought it was
a mirage or a reflection of water of some kind. It was there
for about ten seconds, then shot off to the right, stayed
there for a while and moved back to its original position. It
then moved straight up very fast but not very high. Then it
dropped rapidly behind the mountain. All this took place in no
longer than 20 seconds.
Runcorn,
Saturday January 20
2001, 8.55pm
Two witnesses observed a bright
yellow light moving west, seen for five minutes. It moved too
slowly to be a plane and was first seen to the north. It was
round with a constant brightness and displayed no navigation
lights. It appeared much bigger than a star but smaller than a
full moon. It seemed to be moving too fast to be a blimp.
FEBRUARY>>
Bulimba,
Monday February 5
2001, 7.18pm
Two people were in a stationary car
and observed a fireball moving to the southwest at about 20
degrees elevation. It was coming down at an angle and broke up
into numerous sparks as it disappeared. It was about twice the
size of Venus and had a long tail. It was bright orange and it
faded away with the sparks the last thing to be seen. It was
not bright enough to light up the ground.
Near Aratula,
Sunday February 11
2001, 3.00am
Two witnesses were in a car proceeding
towards Ipswich and saw a completely silent object come so
close that its moving parts could be observed. The driver
flashed his vehicle headlights and the object flashed back
three times. They had lost their way, and stopped to get
bearings when the object was first seen by them, looking like
the moon. It bounced around like a ball and then shot across
the sky. It appeared to be metallic when seen up close and
displayed swinging arms but seemed to be a smallish device.
The witnesses were going to an all night party, got lost and
made it there by sunrise. They drove off after first seeing
the object and it appeared to them again. The object would
"switch off" and appear elsewhere. Other witnesses had also
seen the object. The witness reporting has not talked to
anybody else about the incident and is bothered by it.
Sunshine
Coast, Sunday February
11 2001, 8.44pm
Two witnesses observed a white
light with a tail moving rapidly across the sky somewhat
slower than a shooting star. It was seen for approximately 3
seconds.
River Hills,
Monday 1February 12
2001, 7.05pm
A witness reported a white light seen
for about 10 seconds moving across the sky from west to east to the
horizon. It was of constant brightness, followed a straight
path at constant speed and was comparable to the brightest
star in the sky.
Tumcurry NSW,
Friday February 12
2001, 9.55pm
A witness observed a bright light
through his window to the northwest moving souhtheast. He went outside and by
the time he saw the light again it was directly overhead and
divided into two, one moving off to the south and then changing to
the southeast also. The initial separation was almost instantaneous
and there seemed to be a flash when the second light first
appeared. The duration of the incident was 90 to 120 seconds.
There was no sound and the lights were lost sight of low on
the horizon.
Brisbane
Area, Wednesday February 14
2001, 9.10pm
Witness was in bed looking out the
window, and observed a stationary green and red light for 20
minutes. It then became a white light with a ring of red
lights around it, and looked like a shuttlecock on its side.
Observed this for about 45 minutes. The white light looked
like the headlights of a plane coming towards the observer,
and the object seemed to have an apparent size of about 1/6 of
the moon. When the light disappeared it just seemed to go out
without moving.
Beaudesert,
Monday February 26
2001, 2.00-3.00am
A woman observed to the
east a light pass
over quickly at an elevation of 30 degrees, and disappear
toward the horizon. The object was seen for 8-10 seconds,
during which she also saw a falling star which seemed to move
much faster than the object.
Kangaroo
Point, Wednesday February 28
2001
Witness saw a white light comparable to
Venus in the northeast sky towards Brisbane Airport, and observed it
for about 10 minutes. The light seemed to be very high up and
acquired a red aura during this time, and seemed to be moving
away. Same witness stated that he had a UFO sighting in 1974.
MARCH>>
Glass House
Mountains, Monday March 5
2001, 5.00-6.00pm
A woman was outside in her
yard and saw a big bright light moving quickly through the
sky. At first she thought it was a plane but concluded that
the object was not moving like a plane. It was seen for 4
seconds and then vanished. It was still too light for stars to
be visible in the sky. She had a similar sighting a few weeks
previously.
Kallangur,
Wednesday March 7
2001, 2.15-2.20am
Witness was in bed looking out of a
window facing south. Seemed to have been wakened by a street light
and then saw object. Observed object for about 20 min at an
elevation of 35 degrees. A bright white light with a diffused
halo all around, which eventually faded out. It looked bigger
than Venus with an apparent size of a fingernail at arm's
length. Had seen something similar at age 12.
Kallangur,
Wednesday March 7
2001, 2.20am
A man saw a bright white light to the
south-southwest which changed to blue and yellow. Witness watched for 45
min. and saw the light fade away and come back again. [This
seems to be the same object reported above - Ed].
New Farm,
Friday March 16
2001, 6.25am
Three witnesses watched a small light like
a star to the southwest moving slowly, for about 7 minutes. One of
them went to get a telescope, but the light was gone when he
came back.
Rosewood,
Monday March 19
2001
Two witnesses were outside because of an
electrical blackout in their area and saw a red flashing light
coming from the direction of Amberley Air Base, passing over
from east to west in about 15 minutes. It was the size of a star,
and no noise was heard.
Gold Coast
Tuesday March 20
2001
A woman and other occupants of a car driving
along Springbrook Rd were followed by a cluster of 10 or 12
lights duller than stars but bigger. There were no clouds in
the sky. They eventually stopped to look at the lights and
continued on home. On two occasions the phone rang and the
lights stopped. As they arrived at their property the lights
darted around and seemed to behave aggressively. [Editor's note: This incident bears some resemblance to Min Min light
accounts].
Springwood,
Thursday March 22
2001, 7.25pm
Two witnesses, one of which is known to
have reported UFO experiences from early childhood, reported
observing a boomerang shaped object with three lights along
each side and one in the centre, looking much bigger than a
plane - about the angular size of Orion's belt. It was first
seen almost overhead moving north to south, looking west for 15 seconds.
It was also observed through an 8x telescope and had a
metallic colour. No noise was heard.
Deception
Bay, Friday March 23
2001, 9.00pm
A witness in a car saw a bright white
light with a red light underneath, moving west to east and downwards
to the south at an elevation of 45 degrees and at the pace of
an F1-11 at close range. He hopped out of his car to see
better. It moved in a straight line like a very bright falling
star without leaving a trail. It was observed for 1.5 to 2
seconds and was lost behind trees. Throughout the sighting the
object maintained brightness.
Springwood,
Sunday March 25
2001, 8.45pm
Two witnesses observed a huge orange
yellow golden light to the east, below clouds and moving south for
about 3 minutes. It moved in a darting fashion with sharp
movements, dropping and rising without noise. Its apparent
size was about half a fingernail at arm's length. Its
brightness varied and it was lost behind trees.
The same
witness called back to report that at 9.07 he observed a
yellow object moving faster than a plane north to south and visible
for 1 minute. He confirmed that the earlier object had moved
much faster, and had a slightly triangular shape.
Gateway
Bridge, Tuesday March 27 11.00pm
A witness was standing under the
Gateway bridge looking towards the Port of Brisbane [south] and
observed a bright green round object the size of a small car
come down through the clouds, move horizontally and then down
again. It would have come to ground less that half a kilometre
away near a substation.
Moorooka, Thursday
March 29
2001, 8.00pm
A woman saw a really bright round light almost
directly overhead and stationary glow for about 1 second and
then fade quickly. At the same time she noticed lights in the
area around dim briefly and alarms went off. The object was
like a light bulb behind clouds but it lit up everything
around her. There was no sound. She became frightened and went
straight inside.
APRIL>>
Bundamba,
Wednesday April 4
2001, 1.20am
A woman was letting her dog out and saw a
squashed [elliptical?] orange ball in a break in clouds to the
west-northwest. It moved away and seemed to get bigger as it did so. The
moon was not visible in the sky and this object looked bigger
than the moon and was a deep bright orange. When the object
was gone, the clouds were also gone and the stars were out. A
relative to the woman living about 15km to the west was up that
night trying to contact Europe and Africa on his ham radio.
Conditions were expected to be poor because of solar activity.
He operates at 11 metres and has a steerable directional
antenna. At 1.08am he picked up very strong static at a
bearing of 285-290 degrees, the general direction of the
woman’s observation.
Prion
Mountain, Thursday
April 5 2001, 6.00pm
Two witnesses living on a ridge
with a good view observed a bright light to the northwest at about 12
degrees elevation. Through binoculars there seemed to be three
lights on an object with no navigation lights. It seemed to be
stationary for about 10 minutes and then quickly moved into
the distance. The Sunday had set and it was just on dark. The sky
was clear in the viewing direction.
Holland Park,
Saturday
April 7
2001, 9.50pm
A man was driving south on the
Southeast Freeway
near the Marshall Rd exit and saw a bright white light like a
flare crossing his view from right to left. It seemed low [500 feet]
and was seen for 15 seconds. A second orange light separated
from the first and moved off at right angles to the south or
southeast
and was seen for about 30 seconds. The first object was round
at the front with a ragged rear; the second was round and much
smaller. There was some low cloud in the sky, and the objects
were below the clouds.
Redbank,
Monday
April 9
2001, 7.35pm
A twelve year old boy and his mother
observed two white dots low in the sky towards Brisbane city
[northeast], hovering and moving about. The lights were also observed
with binoculars and seemed to be spinning and flashing. One of
the lights came quickly to join the first while it was being
observed. The family dog also reacted to the incident.
Manly
[NSW], Saturday
April 7
2001, 11.00pm
A man reported seeing several
orange lights in the sky. When viewed with binoculars they
looked as though flames were coming out of them. They seemed
to be floating across the sky in triangle formation. A
triangular shape seemed to be moving with the lights. About
half an hour later another 7 lights moving in formation were
observed.
Carindale,
Monday
April 16
2001, 10.45pm
A woman observed two dark yellow
lights moving southeast to northwest in formation and a third light catch up
with the first two. The elevation and speed of the lights was
similar to that of planes [she lives under a flight path], but
there was no noise. The lights were seen for 5 minutes. At the
time of the sighting she was unable to get her camera to work,
but was able to do so later.
Morningside,
Tuesday
April 16
2001, 12.20am
A woman reported seeing a big golden
ball in the sky move to the south and disappear. A dark object
appeared in the same position and started to go down towards
the mountains. With night glasses she saw a dark big object
moving north to south until trees blocked her view. The first object
had a red flashing light and bulging portholes. She was still
watching this object when she saw the other big oval shaped
object with no lights. A year ago her sister had observed a
big golden object for 10 minutes in Albany Creek.
Rockhampton,
Thursday
April 19
2001, 7.00am
A woman observed and obtained video
footage of a black object well out to sea and travelling
straight. It was white on top and red underneath. The video
was posted to us and examined. It showed a pencil shaped
object and a contrail about 10 times longer than the object.
It is understood that military exercises were being conducted
in that area around that time, and it is likely that this was
an unusual but conventional aircraft.
Underwood,
Friday
April 19
2001, 10.50pm
A security guard who also holds a
pilot’s licence and is an amateur astronomer observed 3 stars
in a straight line sharply defined at about 30 degrees
elevation to the northeast. While he was engaged locking up a gate,
one of the lights disappeared. The remaining two moved around
each other. The lights were seen for 3 to 4 minutes and seemed
to be over Moreton Island. As 12 or 13 year old boy on a farm
in Victoria he saw a perfect sphere like the full moon with
heat shimmering off it, come down and disappear. It looked
like the full moon falling.
Bracken
Ridge, Sunday
April 21
2001, 12.30am
A man observed 4 orange lights
moving west to southwest without noise and faster than a plane. One
light was bigger than the other three and they were not in
formation. They were seen for 3 minutes and lost behind
clouds. The witness has a pilot’s licence.
Gundagai,
Sunday April 22
2001, 1.45-2.05pm
A woman was driving on the Uringilli
Road to Gundagai and noticed an object in the sky to her right,
pacing her. It made no sound, was round and had no protruding
parts. She thought of it as a “magnificent machine” with a lip
like a casserole dish, and was silver in a blue sky. It moved
like a “Rolls Royce” to the right in the sky until she got to Nangath, a small township on the way to Gundagai. She went into
the local store and asked the keeper if they had sightings
there, to which he replied “no”. She asked him to come out and
look at this object in the sky. He came out and on looking to
the indicated direction said: “That’s a flying saucer and it
seems to be spinning”. She continued on and the object moved
further away becoming indistinct in a vaporous cloud. She
noted that RAAF Wagga was nearby and thought this might be
relevant. At the time she did not want the object to be
anything unusual and did not want to get “involved”.
Mount
Gravatt, Monday
2001, 10.55pm
A man observed 2 orange lights
like stars but bigger moving south in the eastern sky. When seen
through binoculars the lights seemed to be spinning. The
lights were observed for 4 minutes and then faded out of
sight.
Brisbane
Area, Thursday
April 26 2001, 4.00am
A man saw a bright shining pulsating
light in his mirror and then looked out of his window to the
east to see a yellow white light bobbing about. He experienced a
tingling from head to toe, and observed the light for about 7
minutes.
MAY>>
Noosa Heads,
May 17 2001,
6.15pm
Description: The Whitman’s airship had
just passed overhead [which is operating from Maroochydore
Aerodrome] and I observed its passage until out of sight. I
looked up shortly after this and observed three distinct
lights in an almost straight line, perhaps forming a very
shallow triangle. They were aligned in a direction parallel to
the coast. They attracted my attention because they appeared
much closer than stars, however the light was not fully white
but rather of a dull yellow-like appearance. I continued to
observe the formation and they appeared to move southerly,
generally maintaining their separation but inverting to form a
very shallow triangle which was virtually still a straight
line. This continued for perhaps up to ten minutes until they
were out of view. By 18.25 they were certainly out of view.
Other remarks that I can add are that there was definitely no
noise indicating any conventional propulsion, the movement was
too fast to be a star or satellite. I am a private pilot and am
accustomed to observing conventional aircraft, but this was
certainly not conventional. No other lights such as the usual
beacon or anti-collision strobes of aircraft appeared with the
formation. The skies in our location at the time were clear
and [to my re-collection] there was no moon observable. Other
people may also have observed this and I pointed it out to one
of the waitress staff of the restaurant.
Marsden,
Saturday May 19 2001, 4.00am
A woman was up tending her sick daughter when
she saw an orange light to the WNW. She woke her husband and
they went outside to look. They went in to get a video camera
and when they came out they saw a row of 5 evenly spaced
lights in a horizontal line in the southern sky over the tops
of nearby houses. They were orange in colour and looked
several times bigger than a star. They were visible for 5 to 6
minutes before fading from view.
Mansfield,
Sunday May 27 2001, 8.45pm
A red light was observed moving
west to east faster than a plane. As it moved it dropped two red lights.
The first maintained a red glow and fell steadily for 5-10
seconds before it was lost to sight. The second dissipated as
it fell. The original light was seen moving for 1 to 2 minutes
and stopped to the east at an elevation of about 60 degrees as a
yellow light. When viewed with binoculars it looked like a
bright yellow ball. No navigation lights were observed, and
there was no wind. The motion of the light was very steady.
Sunshine
Coast, Saturday May 29 2001, 7.30pm
A woman was driving slowly on the
highway towards Bli Bli. There were no other cars on the road
and it was very dark. What she thought were lights from
another vehicle appeared behind her, so she drove slowly
waiting for this vehicle to overtake her. She then realised
that the lights from the vehicle behind were half way in
height up the back of her car. Traffic began to come from the
other direction and the lights behind her pulled back and went
into an arc shape before disappearing.
She stated she
had seen unusual things when she was little and was plagued
with strange dreams all her life. Some of her experiences
included being taken to strange ships where she saw many other
people having a great time.
Wynnum, Thursday
May 31 2001, 8.00am
A man reported seeing a dull white light
moving south to north for 3 to 4 minutes. It was oval shaped and
eventually lost behind trees. It looked like a plane with no
wings.
JUNE>>
Newmarket,
Thursday
June 142001, 5.30am
A man was awakened by the sound of a
plane. He then observed in the west/north western sky a bright
U-shaped light which appeared bigger than the moon. He
described it as a crescent shape with two legs on it moving
very slowly, always in the same direction. It was a golden
coloured light like a candle light which he stated looked like
a plane on fire. He observed the object for 30 minutes.
Tweed City,
NSW,
Thursday
June 15 2001, 8.05pm
A woman was driving south along a main road
and saw an orange light in the top right hand corner of her windscreen
which was getting bigger and bigger. It then seemed to stop
above a street light and move slowly across the windscreen to
her left. She pulled over and saw the light stationary above a
street light. It then moved to her left again and stopped
again for 3 to 4 minutes. The light seemed to have a haze
around it of different colour to the central portion. It then
shot up, becoming like a star in the distance in 2 to 3
seconds. When closest the light was the size of a thumbnail at
arm’s length, and had an oval shape, but its edges were not
well defined, it appeared elongated like a sodium street
light. A three -year old child in the car saw the light too
and became frightened. It would not go to sleep that night and
spent the night in bed with its parents. It is also frightened
of fireworks. The witness recalls a similar experience as a
child about 5 years old.
Brisbane
Airport,
June 20 2001, 6.00pm
Working at the
airport. Saw an object around the size of my thumb. Brilliant
white with blue-orange cinder type objects flying off. Started
seeing the object at around 40-50 degrees elevation reference
the horizon. Continued to burn until a small orange object
remained around the size of a ‘screw head’. This ball
continued until around 3-5 degrees from horizon. Sound was
herd similar to aircraft wake turbulence and distant rumble.
Thinking back this could have been aircraft in the vicinity of
airport, not sure. But quite big, brilliant light and did not
completely burn up in atmosphere. Total time of event around
10 seconds. Sound occurred around 5 seconds after loosing the
object. Several aircraft in the area did report to air traffic
control about the item.
Brisbane
Airport, Thursday
June 21 6.00pm
A witness reported seeing a white
light with “cinders” at a low angle of elevation, turning into
an orange glow and becoming smaller to a quarter of its
original size.
Brisbane
Airport, Thursday
June 21 2001, 9.40am
A witness reported seeing a
white object that looked like a plane without wings or tail,
moving southwest to northeast 3 to 4 times higher that a plane, passing over
the airport. [Ed: planes can seem to have no wings sometimes
when seen from certain angles.]
Arundel, Monday
June 25
2001, 6.40pm
My wife, three children and myself saw what we
believe to be a UFO on the night of Monday 25th June 2001. I
live in Arundel [Gold Coast] and the object was observed due
east from my house at 18.40hrs AEST. It was at an elevation of
about 30 to 40 degrees initially to the east and after a few
moments it vanished from view in a south southeast direction. I am an aircraft mechanic by trade and I know it was not an
aircraft of a commercial type nor any current military
variant. It was stationary in the sky. Round and bright orange
but not too bright. The rest of the family ran outside and I
went to get my telescope. Stupid indeed, my digital video
camera would have been better. I observed it start to move in
a horizontal plane to my right and although I can not be sure
of the distance [several hundred or thousand of miles], it
appeared from its mass to move quite quickly. It then appeared
to move in a slight downward arc as if it was moving closer
and lower towards us, then it accelerated slowly at first and
then faster, to my right and then appeared to climb away from
us. the intensity of the light appeared to fade as it turned
away from us. It dimmed and then disappeared. This all
happened over about 4 minutes. After about 5 minutes of
frantically searching the night sky we all then observed a
meteorite falling to earth from right above us. It was a very
intense bright white light with a spiralling smoke trail. It
was very close and fell in the east, presumably into the
ocean. I do not think it was your common shooting star as it
was too close and you could actually see the smoke trail in
the moonlight. I noticed in today’s Gold Coast Bulletin there
have been other sightings of this orange light recently.
Gumdale, June 26 2001, 5.45pm
I was driving home along Stanborough Road
Gumdale, Brisbane at about 5.45pm and saw a ball-shaped object
go across the sky from the west to the north east. It was
reasonably low in the sky and it did have a tail of flame I
think. I only saw it for a couple of seconds, but it was close
enough to make me think it would have hit somewhere in Moreton
Bay.
Puerto Rico
[South America],
June 27 2001, 11.45pm
At 11.45pm, one large object flew slowly over the
mountain. It was gold in colour and had many points of light
around it. There was no sound and the weather was cloudy.
There was no reaction from people or animals in the area. The
object was twice the size of the moon, and part of the
sighting was video taped.
Hervey Bay,
June/July 2001, 5.45am
We live in River Heads Hervey Bay. One
morning at about 5.45am my dad and my brother saw an unusual
object which they say was a UFO. One night before this we saw
a meteor land in the sea, as our house is near the sea. Two
nights later we saw another similar object. About 2 weeks
later we were coming home late one night and saw a bright
light like an orange lightbulb in the sky and then all of a
sudden there was another one next to it, and then they both
extinguished, as though someone had turned the light off. We
live on a road that leads to the barge to Fraser Island and
have water on both sides. We have been looking out for other
objects but have not had any luck. I have not believed in UFOs
[not a hundred percent] but now I know there must be something
out there.
JULY>>
Munruben,
Friday July 6 2001, 6.45pm
A woman phoned with a report of military
activity in her area where she observed approximately 15
helicopters. This occurred the same week many Brisbane
residents heard on the news there would be increased activity
due to exercises in preparation for the CHOGM [Commonwealth
Heads Of Government] visit in October 2001. She also reported
seeing a white triangular shape with a bright white light on
the top of it. She watched it for 3 to 5 minutes before it
disappeared.
Gateway
Bridge, Friday
July 13 2001, 10.15am
A woman, looking
northeast from the
bridge, was observing Jumbos taking off at the Brisbane
Airport, when she noticed a little silver oblong object. It
immediately went straight up and disappeared. She described it
as “being there one minute and gone the next”. Her father has
seen a giant silver cigar-shaped object in Scofield, NSW, when
she was 12 years old.
Hoppers
Crossing, Melbourne Saturday
July 21 2001, 3.10am
The witness
was outside having a cigarette when he observed a
crescent-shaped object about half the size of the moon moving
due south in the sky. It was a dullish silver colour, not
particularly bright, and climbing at 30 degrees He went inside
and tried to look out the window. He went to wake his wife but
the object disappeared. The witness had been a member of the
air force for 12 years and had never seen anything like it
before.
Maryborough,
Tuesday
July 24 2001, 7.45pm
A woman [a well known public figure],
and her husband were driving north towards Maryborough on the
Bruce Highway saw a massive object which looked like fireworks
in the sky break up into three pieces and come down over or
near the town.
The same
witness was recently driving to work from Hervey Bay to
Maryborough at about 5.15am, coming to the top of a hill about
30km from Maryborough facing southwest towards Tin Can Bay, and saw a
large triangular object, the largest thing she had ever seen
in the sky, above the tree-line on the horizon. It had lights
across the bottom edge and in its centre, with red/orange
lights at the R and L ends. It was just catching the rising
sun, and its apparent size was the width of 4 fingers at arm’s
length.
She also
described an experience which happened in Inverell NSW in 1977
when she was 18 years old and living in a house with two other
people. She was awakened at 3am and whatever had wakened her
left her very frightened. In an instant it was complete
daylight in and around the house. In an instant it was pitch
black again. She sensed danger,
Brisbane
City,
Sunday July 29
2001, 10.00am
A man was
driving near the Botanical Gardens and QUT when he observed an object
through the trees. It was a grey metal unpainted object that
resembled a food warming cover used by the hospitality
industry. It had no tail or rotors and was travelling in an
easterly direction about 1km high. He was only able to observe
the object for a few seconds.
Thornlands,
Monday July 30
2001, 5.40pm
A couple were sitting outside when
they observed a limey-green light with a white tail. They
watched it for a few seconds when it fell at a slant behind
some clouds and disappeared. They had seen the same thing a
few years previously.
Redcliffe
Peninsula,
July 30 Monday 5.50pm
The witness was standing
with a friend outside when they observed a vibrant blue object
going straight across the sky. They watched it for a few
seconds as it travelled at the same speed or slightly faster
than a jet while they looked east over the water. The object
suddenly stopped then just disappeared. The friend reported
seeing a fiery tail.
Eight Mile
Plains,

Cleveland, Monday July 30 2001, 5.40pm
This evening Monday 30 July 2001, at
approx 5.40pm while travelling north on Bloomfield St
Cleveland, my mother and I saw what was to us an unexplainable
occurrence. My mother is 75 and I am 43 years old, and not
prone to seeing things, I’d like to be sure that what we saw
can be logically explained by someone in your organisation.
We both saw a
very bright circular light travelling extremely fast from
about the south-east direction and travelling towards the
north west. This is very general, direction wise. However, I
caught sight of it [I was driving] in my peripheral vision [my
right eye] and the light came across the sky to be about the
top centre of my windscreen. My mother and I both exclaimed
‘Look at that!’ I thought initially it was a meteor, due to
the speed of the object, but the object did not travel towards
the earth as I would expect a meteor to do. Nor have I ever
seen an aircraft travel so rapidly across the sky. Next the
light stopped. Appeared to intensify for a split second, and
seemed to shoot upwards before it, amazingly, just vanished. I
now knew it couldn’t be a meteor.
I hope you do
not think we made this up, as the rest of our family think we
saw an aircraft, but to me, no aircraft I’ve seen can travel
that fast, stop dead still, and then vanish by turning off
its navigational or landing lights.

Three people were on the
beach looking for a camp site when an object lit up into an
odd green light turning night into day. The whole city of
Caloundra turned green. The object was a round circle with a
green light behind it, very intense. The object was just above
the ocean and every direction around it was clearly lit up. It
was estimated to be 4kms from the witnesses and lit up the
inside of the car they were in. This intense light lasted for
about 8 seconds and was too bright to look at. They witnesses
discussed it with friends but didn’t really want to talk about
it.

Fernvale,
Tuesday December 9 2001, 9.00pm
A man was driving on the highway
towards Ipswich. When he was approximately 10kms from
Fernvale, near the Booralan prison, he observed a white light
one km in front of him. The light appeared to be on the
roadway ahead of him but as he approached it jumped up in a
vertical direction to the height of about 20 feet above the
road. It then moved sideways and travelled above the tree line
appearing to keep pace with the vehicle. He phoned his wife on
his mobile phone and she reported seeing it too. The light
began to change to red, white and an "orangey weird colour".
The object travelled past Fernvale out towards Esk then back
over Fernvale eventually speeding up towards Ipswich. The
witness lives in the flight path of Amberley and stated that
the jets did not travel as fast as this thing. He rang Amberley
and was told their tower was closed and the airspace
restricted.
Gailes,
December 9 Tuesday 2001, midnight
A man reported hearing what he thought was
a train with a funny hollow sound, whirring and echoing
becoming louder and louder and eventually speeding past his
home in the middle of the night. He raced to the window but
saw nothing. He estimated the noise went past his house in
1/10th of a second and sounded like nothing he had ever heard
before. There were no lights or illumination and no movement
in the surrounding environment to mark it’s passing. He
further described the sound as "a ball bearing in a tin
spinning around and a whipper-snipper not touching the
ground". He knew it wasn’t a plane, rocket or car and the
noise gave him a "hell of a fright".
